Imagine a day without electricity !!! Awful to even imagine, Right ?

Yes, today Electricity has become as much a necessity as food, clothing & shelter. We all love to live a life without any hassles and Electricity has made our life better by the day. The uses of Electricity are plenty and we cannot imagine a day without it.

But are we thinking where does this Electrical energy comes from ?
How long it will last ?
Are we not wasting it ?
What are we giving back to the nature which takes care of all our energy requirements?

The project “WHEN THE LIGHT GOES OFF” is also about Electricity and the need to conserve it for the sake of generations to come.

“Today's wastage is tomorrows shortage”. Electricity is getting wasted or misused in different ways. Our lifestyle changes and population explosion has put enormous stress on the demand for electricity, whereas most of our electricity requirements are generated from limited natural resources such as Oil, Coal and Natural gas which will eventually run out one day. Hence it is essential we conserve our electricity. But we are either not aware or not bothered about conservation. Most of us are very careless and absent-minded in energy conservation.

Because of the ever increasing demand for electricity, we are dependent on fast depleting non-renewable sources of energy such as Oil, Coal and Natural Gas which are also not environment friendly. Non-Renewable Energy also means adding lots and lots of emission of Green House Gases (GHG) into atmosphere, which leads to global warming. And as we all know, Global Warming can lead to problems such as Flood, Drought, Loss of Habitat, Food scarcity and so on.

Considering the prevailing situation, it is the responsibility of society to look at the problem more seriously and make attempts to ensure proper and judicious use of electricity. We cannot afford to waste electricity at all. Educating the general public on the methods to conserve electricity and possibilities of spending less on electricity can go a long way in reducing electricity requirements.

Through the project, as part of IT activities of Presentation High School, Chevayur, we are making an earnest effort to educate the people about Electrical Energy, the need to proper and judicious use of Electricity, simple conservation tips and thereby contribute to overcome the overall Energy crisis faced by the country. We are taking the first steps to make our world a cleaner, greener place to live.

Come, let us first dispel darkness from our minds and ensure that the LIGHT NEVER GOES OFF...
